David Davis
Assistant Head Coach, Co - Defensive Coordinator, OLB
Coach Davis is a 1987 graduate of Emory and Henry College where he was a four-year starter as a linebacker. He received All-ODAC and All-State linebacker awards as well as serving as a captain for the team. Coach Davis is also a graduate of Hurley High School where he was All-State as a linebacker. Coach Davis also was named Southwest Virginia Student-Athlete of the Year as the recipient of the “Pappy Gene Thompson Award”.
Coach Davis has nineteen years of coaching experience on the high school level. Prior to arriving in Dinwiddie, Coach Davis was offensive coordinator at Boyle County in Kentucky, this was his second stint at Boyle county following five years with Coach Mills at Rockbridge where they turned Rockbridge into a perennial power in double A. During his first stint at Boyle they won back-to-back state championships in 1999 and 2000, amassing a 30-0 record during that time.
He and his wife Wanda are natives of Hurley, Virginia and now reside in Sutherland with their daughter, Nora Paige.

Coach Steve Lucy
Running Backs
Coach Steve Lucy is a 1982 graduate of Dinwiddie County High School where he was a four year letterman and three year starter under legendary coach Carey Parker. While starting his high school career at Quarterback, coach Lucy moved to offensive line and defensive line winning the most outstanding offensive lineman award in 1981.
During coach Lucy’s playing time at Dinwiddie High School the Generals won one Central District Championship and had one trip to the Central Regional Tournament.
n 1989 after a six year stint in the United States Navy coach Lucy returned to Dinwiddie County and continued his passion for the sport by coaching at the youth league level. In 2005 coach Lucy was invited by Coach Mills to join his staff as the newly created Dinwiddie Middle School offensive coordinator.
In 2006 coach Lucy moved from the middle school to be assistant offensive line coach for varsity and JV. This season Coach Lucy will be in his third year as part of Coach Billy Mills’ staff with primary responsibility for the running backs.
Coach Lucy lives in Dinwiddie County with his wife of 22 years Donna Powell Lucy also a graduate of Dinwiddie High School. They have two sons Travis age 15 and Alan age 11.

Coach Archie Tortorice
Defensive Backs
Coach Tortorice is in his first year with the Generals. He is from Pittsburgh, PA where he was a standout cornerback and wide receiver for Franklin Regional. In 1999, Coach Tortorice was an all conference performer helping the Panthers to 9-0 record, the first team in school history to finish the regular season undefeated.
Coach Tortorice continued his playing career at Division III power Mount Union College where he was a 2 year letter winner and a member of 3 National Championship teams. While at Mount Union Coach Tortorice earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and a minor in health.
Coach Tortorice is in his 3rd year of coaching and his first at Dinwiddie. In 2004, he was an assistant defensive secondary coach for his alma mater Franklin Regional where they made the WPIAL Playoffs finishing 8-3. In 2005, Coach Totorice helped lead Franklin Regional to the WPIAL and State Championships finishing 15-1.
This year Coach Tortorice will take over the defensive backfield coaching the corners and safeties, he also is the Defensive Coordinator for the Junior Varsity.

Coach Buzz Edwards
Offensive Line/Strength and Conditioning Coach
Coach Edwards is from Willoughby, Ohio where he graduated from Eastlake North High School in 1999. Coach Edwards was a stand out three-year letterman and a two-way starter on both the offensive and defensive line while earning all city, county, conference, district honors, as well as Bruce Yee Award (Lineman of the year) winner class of 1999. Coach Edwards continued his playing career at Division III powerhouse Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.
Coach Edwards played both defensive and offensive line while playing on three Division III Football National Championship teams in 2000,2001,2002. Coach Edwards graduated in May of 2004 from Mt. Union earning a B.A. in Science with a major in Physical Education and a double minor in Health and History.Before coming to Dinwiddie in 2006, he was the defensive coordinator and offensive line coach of the 8th grade team in Kirtland, Ohio, helping them earn their first winning season in 9 years. While at Kirtland, Coach Edwards also served as the Strength and Conditioning coach for the Kirtland High School.
Coach Edwards enters his 3rd year as the Generals Offensive Line Coach. Last season, Coach Edwards’ offensive line gave up only 5 sacks on 266 passing attempts. In the previous 2 seasons, the General Offensive Line has yielded only 23 sacks on 648 passing attempts.
Coach Edwards also serves as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Dinwiddie County. This past off-season, the Generals took First Place in the Jefferson Forrest Iron Man Lifting Competition. The Generals out lifted the other 6 schools with 36 top 3 finishers and a total of 8 players earn top slots, while tallying 183 team points.
In November of 2006, Coach Edwards was invited to coach the Offensive Line at the 2006 East Coast Bowl, which was made up of the best Division 1AA, Division II and Division III seniors during the 2006 football season.
