Offensive Line/Strength and Conditioning Coach

Coach Edwards is from Willoughby, Ohio where he graduated from Eastlake North High School in 1999. Coach Edwards was a stand out three-year letterman and a two-way starter on both the offensive and defensive line while earning all city, county, conference, district honors, as well as Bruce Yee Award (Lineman of the year) winner class of 1999. Coach Edwards continued his playing career at Division III powerhouse Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio.

Coach Edwards played both defensive and offensive line while playing on three Division III Football National Championship teams in 2000,2001,2002. Coach Edwards graduated in May of 2004 from Mt. Union earning a B.A. in Science with a major in Physical Education and a double minor in Health and History.Before coming to Dinwiddie in 2006, he was the defensive coordinator and offensive line coach of the 8th grade team in Kirtland, Ohio, helping them earn their first winning season in 9 years. While at Kirtland, Coach Edwards also served as the Strength and Conditioning coach for the Kirtland High School.

Coach Edwards enters his 3rd year as the Generals Offensive Line Coach. Last season, Coach Edwards’ offensive line gave up only 5 sacks on 266 passing attempts. In the previous 2 seasons, the General Offensive Line has yielded only 23 sacks on 648 passing attempts.

Coach Edwards also serves as the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Dinwiddie County. This past off-season, the Generals took First Place in the Jefferson Forrest Iron Man Lifting Competition. The Generals out lifted the other 6 schools with 36 top 3 finishers and a total of 8 players earn top slots, while tallying 183 team points.

In November of 2006, Coach Edwards was invited to coach the Offensive Line at the 2006 East Coast Bowl, which was made up of the best Division 1AA, Division II and Division III seniors during the 2006 football season.

Coach Jim Henderson

Defensive Coordinator; Outside Linebacker Coach

 

Coach Jim Henderson is from Hopewell, Virginia and graduated from Hopewell High School. Coach Henderson was a varsity starter at fullback and defensive end on the regional champion 1999 Hopewell Blue Devils. He was also an All-Region selection that season at DE.

 

Coach Henderson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Randolph Macon College. He was a 4-year varsity letter winner, and All Conference in 2003. Coach Henderson joined his hometown coaching staff as a JV offensive coordinator in 2004. Coach Henderson is in his 2nd year of teaching at Dinwiddie High School in the business department.

 

In 2005 he was the wide reciever and defensive back coach. Coach Henderson was the defensive coordinator for the 2006 season. Coach Henderson recently invited to coach linebackers at the 2006 East Coast Bowl, which was made up of the best Division 1AA, Division 2 and Division 3 seniors during the 2006 football season.

Coach Mills is a native of Chilhowie, Virginia, where he was All-State in both football and wrestling. He graduated from Emory and Henry College where he was a four-year letter winner and two-year starter at outside linebacker for the Wasps. Coach Mills was a member of two ODAC championship teams and one south regional championship team.

This is Coach Mills’ 18th year of coaching, serving as head coach for 9 of those years with an overall record of 50 wins and 43 losses. Coach Mills has been in the playoffs ten out of his eighteen seasons and has coached 14 All-State performers and three All-Americans. Over the past nine years he has helped thirty-three of his players go on to play college football.

Before coming to Dinwiddie Coach Mills was the head coach at Rockbridge County High School where he compiled a record of 32 wins and 20 losses, with two playoff appearances, and the 2004 district championship to where he was named Valley District coach of the year. His Rockbridge teams broke 83 out of the possible 94 school records for football.

In his three years at Dinwiddie Coach Mills has a record of 13 wins and 18 losses. This past season Dinwiddie had a record of 9 wins and 2 losses, won the Central District Championship and made the Division 5 playoffs. Following the 2007 season Coach Mills received coach of the year honors by the Central District, Richmond Touchdown Club, All Tri-Cities team, and Central Region Report Team.

Coach Mills and his wife Debbie have two sons, Canaan 10 and Cody 8.
