Generals Pound Out Victory Over Nottoway 28-8

Generals Turn the “Lights Out” on Nottoway, 28-8

bt

The Dinwiddie Generals moved the 3-0 Friday night, using a physical running game and a stingy defense to defeat the Nottoway Cougars 28-8.

Defensively the Generals held the Cougars to a mere 150 yards of total offense for the game. That represents the lowest total Dinwiddie has surrendered this season, and easily the lowest total for Nottoway this season.

The Generals “D” was stingy all night long, and while they didn’t force any turnovers, they did slow Nottoway’s attempt to try and “take the air out of the ball”. That enabled the Dinwiddie offense to get back on the field and stay in rhythm.

Offensively, the Generals used a balanced attack to move the ball against the Cougars. Dinwiddie ran for 143 yards on the ground, paced by Wilkie Cox’s 74 yards on 7 carries. Sophomore Josh Jones ran for 60 yards on 9 carries.

The Generals passing was efficient with 178 yards through the air from QB Adam Morgan. Morgan also threw 2 touchdown passes. His primary target on the night was senior WR Dequan Coles, who finished a productive night with 6 catches for 101 yards, including a 57 yard TD.

The Generals are now 3-0 with a big game against Matoaca looming this Friday. The game will take place at 7:30 at Matoaca High School.
