Coach Mills is a native of Chilhowie, Virginia, where he was All-State in both football and wrestling. He graduated from Emory and Henry College where he was a four-year letter winner and two-year starter at outside linebacker for the Wasps. Coach Mills was a member of two ODAC championship teams and one south regional championship team.  This is Coach Mills’ 20th year of coaching, serving as head coach for 12 of those years with an overall record of 80 wins and 52 losses. Coach Mills has been in the playoffs twelve out of his twenty seasons and has coached 21 All-State performers and five All-Americans. Over the past eleven years he has helped forty-six of his players go on to play college football.  Before coming to Dinwiddie Coach Mills was the head coach at Rockbridge County High School where he compiled a record of 32 wins and 20 losses, with two playoff appearances, and the 2004 district championship to where he was named Valley District coach of the year. His Rockbridge teams broke 83 out of the possible 94 school records for football.  In his four years at Dinwiddie Coach Mills has a record of 43 wins and 26 losses. This past season Dinwiddie had a record of 12 wins and 1 loss, won the Central District Championship, Division 5 Central Region Championship, and lost in the semi-finals to eventual three peat state champion Pheobus 21-13.  Coach Mills has been named Central District coach of the year three times, Central Region Report by Rivals.com coach of the year three times,  Richmond Touchdown Club Coach of the year three times, and Central Region Division 5 coach of the year two times.  Coach Mills and his wife Debbie have two sons, Canaan 13 and Cody 11.
