Coach Davis is a 1987 graduate of Emory and Henry College where he was a four-year starter as a linebacker. He received All-ODAC and All-State linebacker awards as well as serving as a captain for the team.

Coach Davis is also a graduate of Hurley High School where he was All-State as a linebacker. Coach Davis also was named Southwest Virginia Student-Athlete of the Year as the recipient of the “Pappy Gene Thompson Award”.

Coach Davis has nineteen years of coaching experience on the high school level. Prior to arriving in Dinwiddie, Coach Davis was offensive coordinator at Boyle County in Kentucky, this was his second stint at Boyle county following five years with Coach Mills at Rockbridge where they turned Rockbridge into a perennial power in double A. During his first stint at Boyle they won back-to-back state championships in 1999 and 2000, amassing a 30-0 record during that time.

He and his wife Wanda are natives of Hurley, Virginia and now reside in Sutherland with their daughter, Nora Paige.
