This past Wednesday was a big day for Dinwiddie football standout Dequan Coles as he signed a National Letter of Intent to further his athletic career at The Citadel.
Coles caught 60 passes this season for the Generals while racking up 970 yards and 14 touchdowns helping lead the Generals to a 9-2 record. His efforts on the field earned him 1stnd Team All-State selection this season. Team All-Metro and Central District honors. Coles was also a 2
The 5-9 175 pound wideout finishes his career at Dinwiddie with 132 receptions for 2145 yards and 26 career touchdowns.
The Citadel is located in Charleston, South Carolina and the school’s football team competes in the Southern Conference in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision(formerly known as Division 1-AA).
The Citadel finished last season with a 7-4 record under Coach Kevin Higgins. The Bulldogs will play a rugged schedule in 2008 that includes Championship Subdivision champs Appalachian State, perennial ACC powerhouse Clemson, and a University of Florida team featuring 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow.
The Generals football team will miss the efforts and leadership the electrifying WR provided them both on and off the field the past several seasons.
