Dinwiddie senior LB Jimmie Simmons signed to play football next season at Bridgewater College this past Thursday, May 15.

Simmons was an All-Central District, All-Tri Cities selection this season for the Generals. He was also an Honorable Mention All Region and All-Metro selection at linebacker as well.

Simmons racked up 61 tackles this season for the Generals on defense. He’s been a staple on the Dinwiddie defense for each of the last 3 seasons. Simmons finished his career at Dinwiddie with 154 tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 interceptions.

Bridgewater finished last season with a 7-3 record. In the past decade they have established themselves as perhaps the top football program in the ODAC conference. They have also made several appearances in the Division III football playoffs, including an appearance in the 2001 Stagg Bowl - the Division III National Championship Game.
